What to expect
Choosing the right therapist for you
|
As with all therapeutic approaches, establishing a relationship of trust is fundamental to our work together. Your first step into seeking a therapist can feel very daunting, not only is it a first step into acknowledging that you need professional support but with all the mental health terminology that is out there, it can seem very confusing for someone seeking a practitioner for the first time.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are often considered to be interchangeable therapies that overlap in a number of ways. While Counselling usually refers to a brief treatment that centres around behaviour patterns, psychotherapy focuses on working with clients for a longer-term and draws from insight into deeper emotional problems and difficulties. |
Initial Consultation |
The first step is to either email me or for us to have a short telephone conversation. This will be an opportunity for you to discuss the reasons why you are thinking about counselling, to see how comfortable you feel with me and to ask any questions. Following this initial assessment and if we both agree to work together, we can begin therapy. Alternatively if you would prefer to book an appointment to come and see me for a more in depth consultation this can be arranged and will be charged at the rate of an individual session. However, there is no obligation to start therapy following a consultation.
|
Fees
|
£65 - £85 for individual sessions
£75 - £95 for couples counselling Prices vary depending whether the sessions are face to face or online/phone sessions. I offer one-to-one counselling on a short or long term basis which depends entirely on you. Either way we will regularly review our work together to ensure you are getting what you need out of the counselling process. |
